Totally old fashioned bedside manner.with ease on my side.and trust..wish G.Ps had his under standing.by reading his patients the whole person.,making one feel special. I did feel let down by staff after the Op with lack of help and understanding and lack of hiygeien for personal care.and help on doing so .no showers. Better care at Q E Q. M. pre .Op..

During a routine ultrasound scan for something else it was discovered that I had some sort of growth occurring within my left kidney. I had not been experiencing any symptoms so was quite surprised to hear this. From that moment on a whole system swung swiftly into motion from initial outpatient consultation with one of the Urology team Doctors, a CT scan for more detailed imaging and then seeing Mr Milan Thomas the Urology Surgeon. He explained that they had found a 4cm diameter tumour and that it was likely to be cancerous. The recommended course of action was a robotic assisted partial nephrectomy (removal of part of the kidney) which he explained has the advantage of maintaining a working kidney over complete removal. Anyway, with lightning speed, six days later the operation was completed and the day after I returned home. One month later I had my results from Mr Thomas informing me that the whole of the low grade tumour was successfully removed, which was of course excellent news and a big relief. I have now had my six month follow up ultrasound and consultation with Mr Thomas and my kidney function is as good as before surgery, my scans are normal and I feel the same as before surgery, so excellent news all round. I can only now go onto say, how I would like to thank Mr Thomas for his absolute skill and professionalism, and for being so friendly, calm and reassuring during what can obviously be a stressful time, I feel very fortunate to have been referred to him. The Medical Imaging, Theatre and Ward staff were also great, a big thankyou to the NHS which excelled throughout my care.

Very friendly and put me at ease from the outset. Full explanation of the procedure, follow up process, and potential future complications to be aware of.
